Crowborough Tri Club

Newsletter April 2026

Hello Everyone,

You will have seen the details of forthcoming events from JoJo and Rosie's WhatsApp messages.  This is a quick newsletter for those who might not have seen it, and also news of past achievements.

April

This weekend on Sat 18th the club is holding its annual mini triathlon at the leisure centre.  The format is simple.  Be at the poolside for 0800 for a 200m swim, followed by a 20k on a spin bike at 0930 - 1030.  Then an easy run on the track 2.5k or 5k, your choice.  I would then think we could all foregather for a coffee and a chat.  It might also be fun to wear our club tri suits for those who have them.  Please sign in on the website so we have some idea of numbers.  Come along and join in!

The next date for your diary is Monday 27th April for the AGM after the swim session.  7.30pm - 9.30pm at the Boars Head Pub.  It is a relaxed evening and a really good opportunity to hear what the club is doing and plans for the future. It is also your chance to have a say, and also a good time to meet up and have a chat or two over a drink and something to eat.

May

The annual club cycle ride is heading for Folkestone on 16th May,  Starting at 0900.  Again please sign up so we know numbers.  More detailed information nearer the time.

In the meantime … lots of club members have been super busy.

On the 1st March Heather and her sister Bex ran the Brighton half marathon.  Not only is this a significant distance, they did it in appalling weather with strong wind and heavy rain.  Congratulations, bravely done.

Christine ran the Hasting half marathon on 22nd March, in a very good time.  Part of her London marathon training.  Well done Christine.

April is certainly a busy month!  Botts and Wes cycled to Roubaix in France to watch the Paris-Roubaix cycle event, often called "The Hell of the North".  Incredible distances being cycled, but that's Botts and Wes for you!  What an experience.

Sarah Smith was away in France doing some mammoth cycles up the mountains; Alpe d'Huez being one of them. If there is a mountain, Sarah will be there!  Incredible, well done Sarah.  And then on her return, she ran the Brighton Marathon.  There is no stopping her.

George had a great run at the Brighton Marathon on 12th April, sub 4 hours.  An amazing run.  Well done George.  Rest and recuperate, and we will see you back on the bike soon!

At the same time on 12th April, Dean was racing at Mallory Park.  It was a duathlon, and a qualifier for next year's World Champs in Canada.  He came a very creditable and swift 4th place, especially as he had a "mess up" in transition.  Something to do with shoes I believe.

That’s all for now folks.  Happy swimming, cycling, running.
